
PG Senior student Mariam Avetyan Represents Armenia at the “Shanghai Tourism Festival”
On September 14-17, the “Yerevan Drums”, a marching band from Armenia, represented the country at the Shanghai Tourism Festival. The festival, one of China’s largest tourism celebrations, features global cultural performances and is officially approved by the Shanghai Municipal Government. A key highlight of the event is the Opening Parade, where the Yerevan Drums showcased Armenia’s rich cultural heritage to an international audience.
The group, consisting of 16 talented young women together with Mariam Avetyan (PG Senior), is known for their impressive drum-playing skills and vibrant performances at national events, concerts, and award ceremonies in Armenia. Their participation in Shanghai marked a historic debut for Armenia, as they were the first Armenian group to join the festival.
After the Opening Parade, the band performed at iconic Shanghai landmarks such as the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower and Water Park, captivating spectators with their rhythms and energy. Yerevan Drums’ debut at the Shanghai Tourism Festival marks a significant step in expanding Armenia’s cultural presence worldwide.
